SAVE OUR ENVIRONMENT, SAVE OUR PLANET by Varun

Environment and its depreciating condition is a great cause of concern for us presently. Today one prominent and continuous discussion all around is about the environment and its present state. Even the virtual world is deeply affected by this growing concern. You can find posters, banners and banners around you displaying the only phrase "GO GREEN". The commercial and company logos are promoting the idea and concern with great vigor. There is no commercial greed they are searching for; for most of the industries all around the raw materials come from natural resources only. If there is no resources then how will the industries exists? Not only commercial benefits, but our mother earth is also a cradle of the life support system for all living organisms of the planet. Each one of us has responsibility to make this earth green.

Our planet is a wondrous beauty and the best place to live in. One can find lovable animals everywhere with different kinds of beauty that attracts us. Just realize once what nature has created for us, the sense for protecting this planet would come automatically to our mind. But unfortunately still many people do not appreciate the nature and exploit it like anything in an unhealthy manner. Continuous burning of fossil fuels has resulted in global warming and ozone layer depletion. We are destructing forests and natural habitat of animals. Needless to say just for the sake of human greedy needs we are destructing the natural beauty. Many species are now extinct or on the verge of being extinct. It seems that for coming generation the common forest animals like lion and tiger would just become like a prototype to be found in some museums or just a name of animal to be found in books. We must show care and concern for our nature and environment. Save Green, save the environment. Why can't we switch over to some renewable sources for meeting our daily or industrial needs? Why can't we use bio-fuels in our vehicles in place of diesel or petrol? Why don't we design our buildings and conference halls so that at least during day time it can utilize sunlight for its lighting? Everyone talks about energy efficient buildings all the time but still our auditorium and meeting halls are without windows and even during day time we depend on electricity for its lighting when a plenty of sunlight is available outside. Why these engineers design the buildings in such a way in spite of knowing that a lot of coals or nonrenewable fuels are being burnt to produce this electricity?

What is reasonable expectation to have is people are now coming forward to get together to work for the cause of green world and with healthier environment. Though government is trying its best through its various green programs yet we are the ultimate authorities to make these efforts of government feasible. Let's enjoy the beauty of nature and let it be enjoyable for the coming generation. That is the only solution by which this planet can be saved not only for our future generations but also for all life forms all around us.

Customized Bags To Boost Awareness On Mother Earth by Beth Loggins

Utilizing bags to save environment? Could that be achievable? Yes, it could but not directly. In fact, the modern trend in advertising a business is to connect it with the worldwide campaign to save Mother Earth. If you would wander around the sphere, each nation concern about global warming and its effects to our only home have their own take on the problem through various activities. One of those is using promotional advertising totes for shopping.

Since the employment of plastic bags is highly discouraged by most organizations that are concerned about the environment, one good solution to the predicament is the use of promotional bag giveaways that are organic-friendly and at the same time promotes the value of good deeds like segregation of waste, recycling and a lot others.

In some trade expos that concentrate chiefly on organic merchandise, they are usually offering promotional bag gifts that comprises produce that are organically grown like fruits, vegetables and others. In fact, there are some of these bags that carry slogans like "Go Green", Reuse, Reduce, Recycle" and other phrases that may persuade people to save the earth and buy their merchandise too.

Using promotional bag items in your merchandise is really a great wheel of advertising. Carrying the bag all through out the neighborhood will let the people know that this certain establishment is engrossed in propagating good seeds in the minds of people that doing this and that might be a great approach to save the environment. And subconsciously, it also says "save the earth, buy our product". Isn't that a magnificent concept?

Promotional logo bags have sufficient space where the slogan can be viewed even from afar. Logos and catchphrases that are embossed in big bold text are very obvious especially in a crowd. The logo bags that we use to carry our purchased merchandise make us models and walking billboard. Jokingly, we should be paid for such advertisement of the brand that we carry along roads in and out of the metro.

Surely, promotional bag is a magnanimous medium if you want your word to be passed on to the society. So, if you're having a business make sure to create a bag that might help you increase your brand recognition to further expand your market value as well as your identity to the public.

Vote for the Environment- Choose Organic Meat by Gen Wright

Your everyday meat choices are important - and not just because they impact your health and well being. Making healthy "green" choices for yourself and your family can also benefit the environment for generations to come. When you support organic agricultural practices by choosing organic meat and other organic foods, here's what you do for the planet:

Reduce unhealthy chemicals and toxins in our environment.

Most crops in the US are grown with the aid of various synthetic chemicals including pesticides, fertilizers, herbicides and fungicides. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 60% of herbicides, 90% of fungicides and 30% of insecticides are carcinogenic. Certified organic farmers do no use most conventional pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, bioengineering, or ionizing radiation. Organic agricultural practices prevent pesticides and other chemicals from getting into the air, earth and water that sustain us. When you choose organic meat from small family farms, you "vote" for a planet free of harmful contaminants.

Build healthy soil.

Well-balanced soil is the foundation of healthy, nutritious food. Conventional farming depletes the soil over time. Organic farmers build healthy soils by nourishing the living component of the soil, the microbial inhabitants that release, transform, and transfer nutrients. Soil organic matter contributes to good soil structure and water-holding capacity. Organic farmers feed soil biota and build soil organic matter with cover crops, compost, and biologically based soil amendments. These methods not only produce healthy plants that are better able to resist disease and insect predation, but also protect biodiversity and promote soil stability and fertility. Choosing organic meat and other agricultural products means you're voting to keep essential nutrients in the soil where they belong.

Protect the water supply.

Conventional agricultural practices contribute to water pollution, which is bad for our health and for the environment. As much as 99% of the pesticides applied to crops enter the environment. Contamination of soil and groundwater is a serious threat to many species of wildlife. By eliminating polluting chemicals and nitrogen leaching, and by building healthier soil, organic practices prevent contamination and protect and conserve water resources. So choosing organic meat means you're voting for cleaner water.

Consume less fossil fuel.

Organic farming seeks to make the most efficient use of nonrenewable resources and on-farm resources and integrate, where appropriate, natural biological cycles and controls. Organic farmers use green manures and crop covers, rather than synthetic fertilizers made from petroleum. If you want to vote against global warming, air quality deterioration, oil spills, and acid rain, choose organic meat and other organic foods.

Respect and nurture healthy animals and people.

Choosing organic is a great way to take care of the people you care about. You can nourish yourself, your family, and the planet by supporting sustainable farming practices and eating foods that are truly good for you. We think this the best reason to choose organic meat: because you can enjoy a delicious meal and peace of mind.

Organic Meat Versus Natural: What the Labels Mean

Labeling food is like labeling people. Too often, the description is confusing, or doesn't give you a full picture of what's involved. Organic meat, natural meat, grass-fed beef, free-range chicken, hormone-free milk...there are lots of terms out there in the marketplace.

So what should the average meat lover do? When it comes to agricultural products such as produce, grains, dairy and meats, most of us don't have the enjoyment of getting to know our local farms and farmers. Here are tips to follow:

1) Buy your meat, dairy and produce from a trusted source.

2) Learn how to "read between the lines" of meat labels.

3) Prioritize with relevance such as taste, convenience, health, food safety, the environment, humane animal treatment, and advocating small family farms.

4) Advocate for accurate labeling by the USDA and the FDA.

Is Organic Distinct from Natural?

The easy answer to the above question is Yes. While some producers of "natural meat" may follow organic farming practices, there is no strict definition of the term. Organic meat, on the other hand, is enforced to adhere to strict standards established by the USDA National Organic Program.

Here's are some examples, useful definitions of Natural, Hormone Free, Organic and Grass Fed:

Natural - "Natural" sounds good, but the truth is that it doesn't mean much on a meat label. The FDA does not confine the use of the word "natural" except for added color, synthetic substances, and flavors. For example: meat labeled natural can be raised on farms that use pesticides on their fields and in their animal feed.

Hormone Free - This claim can be deceptive even when it's technically true. All poultry is free of hormones. Hormones haven't been allowed in poultry or pork in the U.S. since 1959. Look for "no antibiotics" or "free range" or "organic" for more understandable information about how the chicken was raised.

Organic - When you see the USDA "organic" label, you know the food inside has followed strict guidelines. Here's an overview of what it means when meat passes the organic test:

* organic farmers do not use antibiotics or synthetic growth hormones. * organic meat comes from animals that are given 100 percent organic feed. * organic animals are given access to the outdoors and/or pastures. * organic farms do no use most conventional pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, bioengineering, or ionizing radiation. * organic farmers emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations. * organic farms are inspected by a Government-approved certifier to make sure the farmer is following all the rules necessary to meet USDA organic standards. Companies that handle or process organic meats must be certified, too.

Grass Fed - As of November 2007, the U.S. Department of Agriculture began regulating a voluntary "U.S. Grass Fed" label for beef and lamb. The regulations require that the animal has access to pasture and isn't fed grain. Grass-fed beef is lower in saturated fat and cholesterol than conventional beef, with more vitamins and "good fats" like Omega-3s and CLAs.

Recycling - Why and How? by Mr.G

Recycling may be defined as making new articles by reprocessing used and discarded materials. It reduces the ill effect that the waste has on environment which is generated by our consumption. Recycling also solves the problem of disposition of waste and makes the waste reusable. Bio-degradable waste and garden waste are also treated with micro organisms to make organic manure beneficial for plants.

Why Recycling is necessary?

To keep our environment clean, we need to rigorously follow the policy of recycling and encourage usage of products that are recycled or made from recycled material. In this way, we can prevent dangerous substances going in land fills and polluting our soil and water. It also helps us control global warming. It reduces the need for raw materials and saves valuable energy. Recycling helps in keeping our surroundings and atmosphere healthier. It reduces the impact of waste on our environment. Recycling saves money. 75% of the waste can be recycled and put to use. Clothes, metals, papers, plastic, electronic parts, glasses, and batteries are some of the materials that can be recycled.

How is Recycling done?

There are some steps taken before the waste is recycled.

Waste is first collected from homes, commercial establishments and community dumps. This waste is then segregated and sent for recycling. Manufacturing is the third most important step in process of recycling. Some products are manufactured from completely recycled material or partly recycled material.

Recycled glass bottles are made from clear glass containers, while colored glass containers are used to make colored glass material. Recycling of paper is done by removing the ink and shredding it finely and treating it with chemicals to make new sheets of paper.

In bigger cities, Municipal Center plays a great role in collection and segregation of waste and then sending them to the recycle units. Customers are given incentives to bring material for recycling and usage of recycled products.

Implementing Alternative Energy by Rick Phipps

Implementing Alternative Energy

There are many alternative energy options and technologies available, but how do we change a system which seems to be very fixed and soldered in? The answer is not in government mandates or relying on the government at all. This method will take way too long and we will never get anywhere. Why should we turn to alternatives? Many believe in Global warming and many don't. However even if we don't take into account that factor and we decide from the viewpoint of not having to depend on the Arab nations to supply most of our transportation energy needs (oil), it still makes sense to look at alternatives. But how will any of these technologies be implemented? The answer is simple.

We have to look at how all great progress has been made in this country. It has been made by individuals with ideas and inventions and private investment. The only exception to this has been NASA which has had a good record of accomplishment; witness the Apollo, and voyager programs. But this has been at an extremely high cost that would not be tolerated in the business world. Also it took NASA over 25 years to realize that the space shuttle was not a very efficient idea. Government mandates do not drive initiative but only a resistance. What drives initiative is individuals who see a problem and want to do something about it. Also the government seems to be a tool used by many vested interests to keep things as they are.

So who is going to take responsibility and make these new things happen? It is us as Americans. So I invite anyone with a scientific creative flair to join in on the alternative evolution which is as sure to happen as the sun will come up tomorrow. What kind of inventions or systems and inventions are there out there? More than you can possibly imagine. There are Tide generators, sewage-water-heat pumps, solar towers, solar arch's, hydrogen fuel cells, other types of fuel cells and things like hybrid fuel injected two stroke cars using a gas vaporization system getting as much as 400 miles to the gallon.

There are various wind farms across the world now. Chile is known as the solar oven capitol of the world now and this is helping to prevent deforestation. There are many many more inventions that could take place if this area was really freed up. Just beware of laws that are being passed that sound like a good idea on the subject they are addressing but hidden and unrelated could be measures that suppress alternative energy.

The oil industry has made billions and billions and I think it is time they gave us something in return for making them so wealthy. They need to get off of their duffs and help create a new economy which is not based on oil. This should never be mandated but only expressed to that industry by people themselves so that they may get their ethics in and start helping.
